CITY OF WATSONVILLE: Get Ready to Catch The Rain

Waterpipe

City of Watsonville issued the following announcement on Dec. 1.

We encourage Watsonville residents to prepare for the rainy season by purchasing a rain barrel. Take advantage of the rebate offered by Pajaro Valley Water and save money while saving water.

Collecting rainwater from roofs, gutters and other surfaces to save for later use is easy! While the harvested rainwater is not drinking water quality, it can be used to water your garden and landscape throughout the drier seasons of the year. Pajaro Valley Water is offering a generous rebate for rainwater catchment barrels or tanks.

Capturing and storing rainwater to irrigate your garden helps reduce the demand on our potable water system. Harvesting rainwater also minimizes the amount of water that runs throughout our streets into the storm drain system, which flows untreated into our wetlands, rivers, and beaches. This water is too precious to waste, and while money doesn't grow on trees, in this case, it does fall from the sky.
