Enrollment at Santa Cruz County Office of Education schools increased by 14.1% compared to previous school year

Santa Cruz County Office of Education’s schools enrolled 1,069 students in the 2022-23 school year, 14.1% more than the previous year, according to the California Department of Education.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 54.1% of them were boys, and 45.2% were girls.

The most represented ethnicity among Santa Cruz County Office of Education students was white, accounting for 37.3% of the student population.

Santa Cruz County Office of Education covers four schools within Santa Cruz County with its main office in Santa Cruz.

Among the four schools in Santa Cruz County Office of Education, Santa Cruz County Community recorded the highest enrollment of 741 students in the 2022-23 school year.

In the last decade, enrollment in California elementary and secondary schools rose by at least 5%, while high school enrollment dropped 5%.

However, overall enrollment in California public schools is sliding, and the Public Policy Institute of California expects it to drop another 8% by the 2031-32 school year.
