Cost of college went up for all students at Cabrillo College

In-state tuition and fees rose 0.2 percent for 2018-19 at Cabrillo College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

California residents paid $1,270 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $2 more than the $1,268 charged for 2017-18.

Non-resident students would have paid 487.6 percent more than residents this year, or $7,462. Non-resident tuition and fees grew 6.2 percent from $7,028 in 2017-18.

About 95 percent of the school's undergraduate population are California residents. And about 2 percent are citizens of other countries.

Data shows 66 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 586 students received grants or scholarships totaling $3 million and 8 students took out student loans totaling more than $36,429.

Including all undergraduates (11,321), 5,900 students used grants or scholarships totaling $17.9 million, and 203 students took out $1.4 million in federal student loans.
