Of the 272,138 people living in Santa Cruz County, California in 2021, 50.2% (136,707) were women and 49.8% (135,431) were men, according to U.S. Census Bureau data obtained by Santa Cruz Standard.

Data showed the average age for women in Santa Cruz County in 2021 was 39 years, lower than the national average of 40 for women.

According to census data, despite women being more prevalent in Santa Cruz County during 2021, men aged 18 and over outnumbered women in the same age group by 416. Meanwhile, in the 65 and over group, there were 21,423 men and 24,362 women.
